My Primary Focus: Patrol and Operations
Commander Danny Warner was born in South Korea and moved to Salinas in 1973 when his father was stationed at Fort Ord. After graduating from North Salinas High School, he earned an Associate’s Degree from Hartnell College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute and University, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Faulkner University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 291. Commander Warner has been with the Salinas Police Department since 2001.
As an Officer, he has experience in Patrol, Investigations (as a Detective), the Violence Suppression Unit, SWAT, Computer Forensics, and as an Active Shooter Response Instructor. As a Sergeant, he has worked in Patrol, Investigations, the Field Training Unit, Personnel and Training, and served as a SWAT Team Leader. He was also a Sergeant in a California Department of Justice Task Force that focused on gangs and drug-related crime. He is currently serving as a Commander in the Patrol Division.
Commander Warner oversees the Firearms and Range program, the Defensive Tactics Unit, the Axon (formerly Taser) program, the Computer Forensics Unit, and the Active Shooter Response Instructor team.
