On Monday, 12/19/22 at approximately 7:15 pm, Salinas Police Officers responded to a report of a victim of a shooting in the 1900 block of Bradbury St. On arrival they located David Alcantar-Rodriguez (18) suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers attempted life saving measures and the victim was transported to a local hospital, however, the victim succumbed to his injuries. A white sedan was seen leaving the area after the shooting.
Since the day of the incident Salinas Police detectives have re-interviewed witnesses, examined the evidence, and identified new investigative leads. As the ongoing investigation developed, detectives were able to identify Emiliano Juan Salas (22) as the suspect, and an arrest warrant was obtained. Detectives were also able to determine that Salas had moved to Arizona shortly after the incident. On Tuesday, 4/11/23, the U.S. Marshals Service located Salas in Mesa, Arizona. He attempted to flee, however, he was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. Salinas resident Iris Lopez (22) was also taken into custody on an arrest warrant for being an accessory after the fact in this homicide. Emiliano Salas and Iris Lopez will be extradited to California in the upcoming days and upon their arrival they will be booked into the Monterey County Jail.
