UPDATE: On 04/13/2021, we were notified by the Monterey Coroner’s Office that the 17 year-old male victim that had been shot in this incident and hospitalized since that date had succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Adam Diaz Gallegos a resident of Salinas. As a result,one of suspect’s (Manuel Michael Sanchez) charges has now been upgraded from attempted murder to murder.

Attempted Homicide Investigation Arrest

On 4/7/21 at approximately 10:15 pm Salinas Police Officers responded to the area of Industrial Place and Sanborn Place on reports of a shooting that had just occurred. On arrival they located two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, whose identity was initially not known was suffering from a single gunshot and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. This victim who has now been identified is a 17 year old male, and he remains in critical condition. The second victim, an adult male 22 years of age was suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition and was treated and released.

Loud Noise Violation

On Saturday 2/27/21, at about 7:45 PM, officers responded to a loud music complaint on Rianda Circle. This location is about one block from the police building and officers could hear the music from the station parking lot. When the initial officers arrived, they saw a large concert stage with a live band in the business parking lot. The stage was similar to the stages used for concerts at the Sports Complex. There were approximately 100 people in attendance, some in their vehicles and about half outside their vehicles dancing.
