Incident: Death Investigation

On Wednesday, 4/26/23, at approximately 6:30 pm, Salinas Police Officers and Salinas Fire Department responded to the 1600 block of Georgetown Way on a report of a juvenile needing medical attention.

Inside the residence, officers located an 11-year-old girl suffering from a single gunshot wound, and tragically she died as a result of her injury. Salinas Police Detectives responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. While this is an ongoing investigation, detectives do not believe this was an intentional act and do not believe there is any threat to the community. The details leading up to the incident are still under investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
